Robot life

2009 03 25 20:51

Utopsie 2009 — Long overdue redesign

2009 03 25 16:40

Well today is my birthday. I’m finally old enough (38) for a mid-life crisis to rear its ugly head at the horizon.

So I thought I would clean house for 2009 and redesign my blog. Well it’s not like I thought that up today, I’ve been working on this — on and off — for a couple of months (mostly off) and now it is finally ready. Mostly. There are still the portfolios «under construction» but I HAD to get something online for the 25th. Done. And you can go check out Rocket Space Ship, the webcomic i’ve been working on since the end of december.

WordPress is a wonderful tool and I’ve gotten very familiar with it, with php, with plugins, etc. It’s a lot fo fun.

So have a look around, enjoy, kick the tires. Leave a comment. And have a nice day.

I know I will, it’s my birthday.

Stuff I love and other stuff

Ten Six things I’m in love with right now

I’ve been having an extremely crappy day today, everything irritates me, so I’m trying to hack my mood by thinking hard about ten things I like. That’ll show me!

Twitter
Took me a while to get into it, probably a question of having the right tool for me. So it wasn’t until I recently installed TwitterFon on my iPhone that I really got into it. At the same time the Twitterfox plugin for Firefox was updated for my FF 3.1 beta 2 , so I strated getting a real deluge of tweets, from everywhere, all the time, yadda yadda yadda, you know how it is. If you don’t, signup for Twitter and follow me. www.twitter.com/fran6co

Blogging on the bus
I actually started writing this post on the 55 going north up Saint-Laurent. With the WordPress iPhone app. It’s slow typing but it CAN be done, which fills me with joy.

Hulu.com
I haven’t turned my TV on in a while thanks to hulu.com. Combined with HotSpot Shield, which allows you to connect to the service from outside the US, I can now stop relying on the Torrents for my Battlestar Galactica fix. HSS also works with all the other localized streaming TV services, like all the major networks, so if you missed Letterman last night, you can still check it out.

Sillages
Jean-David Morvan and Philippe Buchet have been creating this Bande Dessinée called Sillage for a long while now, I just discovered it recently (#11 has just come out). I’m catching up form whatever I can get at the library, so not in the right order, but each episode can stand by itself. The main character, Nävis, is the only human living in a gigantic caravan of travelling spaceships (imagine Battlestar Galactica with a zillion races, thousands of ships, and only one human). So of course the main storyline is her trying to find out who she is, and what she is, having no other humans to model her behaviour. Plus she’s a kick-ass hottie.

Downloading comics
Yeah so it seems this weird «scanner» technology has been developed, which allows you to create these «cbr» or «cbz» files, that you can then send through the tubes, and then you get to read a comic book on your computer screen. Like movies, and music? Yes. Wow. Comics on screen ? I’ll get back to you on that.

Maple syrup
Natural, fair, organic, no shit added, living in a can. Probably ten times more expensive than it should be, but it’s better than refined slave-collected sugar.

Ok so that’s just six things, but my mood has greatly improved (it WORKED!!!) and I’m sitting too close to the window at this café, and my hands are getting cold, so I’m a gonna head on home and catch ya later.

Obsession hivernale

2008 12 15 02:13

The bird poem about flying in the sky

I wish I was a bird

So I could fly in the sky

And shit on your head

4 décembre 2008, time capsule

2008 12 04 01:32

Recently I’ve been going through my blog archives, and looking at very old blog posts that I had totally forgotten about. It was kinda weird to see how my life has been going the last couple of years. This one is like that, for a time very far into the future.
